European Course on Carbon Materials, An intensive course to be held in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The course language will be English. Lectures will be given on the widest possible range of topics by 15 German scientists. This event is intended as a refresher course for scientists active in carbon technology. The course is also well suited for scientists and engineers who are newcomers in the field of carbon materials, including students in the fields of technical chemistry, chemical engineering and materials science. Carbon Materials for Energy Storage and Generation, A Carbon Journal Workshop to be held in Shanghai in conjunction with the following conference (Carbon '11). The workshop will consist of five 1.5 hour tutorial lectures, including time for discussion and questions. The content of the tutorials will include recent progress in the following fields:

• Carbon materials: recent advancements (Prof. Yury Gogotsi)
• Carbon for supercapacitors (Prof. François Béguin)
• Carbon pore structure and gas adsorption (H2 and CH4) (Prof. Katsumi Kaneko)
• Carbon for lithium ion batteries (Prof. Hui-Ming Cheng)
• Carbon for fuel and solar cells (Prof. Max Lu)
