Activities

While in Lexington, we hope you and any accompanying-persons will take advantage of the many fun activities that the Bluegrass area has to offer. The meeting organizers will be offering accompanying-person trips during the meeting. More information on those activities will be available in the future.

ACCOMPANYING PERSON PROGRAM:



SHAKER VILLAGE TOUR - $49.00 (Lunch included)

Travel along US 68 from Lexington to Harrodsburg to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. The drive will take you past horse farms and through the Kentucky River Palisades. It is the largest historic community of its kind in America. This village preserves over 30 original 19th century buildings. You will take a self-guided walking tour through the herb gardens, Meeting House, Center Family House, Craft Shop, see a film on the life of the Shakers and enjoy demonstrations by spinners, weavers, broom makers and others. River boat cruise on the Kentucky River.

FRANKFORT, KENTUCKY - $40.00 (Lunch included)

Tour Frankfort, Kentucky's Capitol City. Tour the Capitol Building, Floral Clock with live plants, then on to Liberty Hall and the Orlando Brown house. Next a visit to the recently opened Kentucky History Museum. The tour will then go to Rebecca Ruth Candies, known for the World-famous bourbon-flavored "Kentucky Colonels."

KEENELAND RACE COURSE AND LABROT & GRAHAM DISTILLERY - $17.00

A stop at Keeneland Race Course will start this tour. With its tranquil setting and lovely stone fences and buildings, this national historic landmark is one of the most genteel and beautiful thoroughbred racetracks in the world.

Kentucky Bourbon whiskey is a product steeped in tradition. Visit Labrot & Graham Distillery, a restored historic distillery in Woodford County and a showplace of the distiller's art. This small, picturesque distillery is nestled along Glenn's Creek, at the site where Elijah Pepper, one of the famous early Bluegrass distillers, set up his distillery in 1812. The tour will also take you past several of Kentucky's famous horse farms.

Because this is scheduled while no sessions are taking place, conference attendees are able to participate in this event.

IRISH ACRES - $45.00 (Lunch included)

Irish Acres Gallery of Antiques displays 32,000 square feet of American and European furniture, glassware, china, crystal, silver, linens, dolls, jewelry, rugs decorative accessories and international giftware. Irish Acres truly offers something for everyone, from the curious browser to the serious collector. Lunch in The Glitz is a truly delightful dining experience.
